About the organiser

Gulsha Begum the initiator of the Global Peace Mission , Chairperson Divine Abode Foundation, Kamaluddin Charitable Trust, Al Ikhlas Museum & Gallery, Festival Director – Founder of International Sufi Festival is a descendant of Gul Shah Chishty Qadria a sufi saint from the northern frontiers of Afghanistan who came to India and settled .His Dargah is situated in South Kanara district.

Gulsha Begum a Mysticis , Clairvoyant and also a Artist.
According to Begum a series of visions and other transcendental experiences that commenced became the basis for the discourses. She believes there is a greater power working through her, a supernatural Divine Goddess who initiated her on the path.

The Divine Mother revealed “Remain in the world, but be not worldly-minded. Worldly greatness is nothing. To be treated or feel highly is another form of ego by itself. Therefore wearing certain garments does not make one enlightened rather sincere seekers of Truth must Remain in the world, but be not worldly-minded. Mere study cannot make you great. When you remain in the world, prepare yourself nicely for the path . You have no experience and I am ready to walk with you at this moment”.

She taught her how to be attached yet detatched. She was taken to a secluded places at times away from her family, property, possession to strengthen mentally. The goddess taught her that mere emotion and enthusiasm will not serve much in the path of renunciation. The path is with many difficulties. But firm determination, patience and fortitude can make the journey beautiful. The life is the best kind of life in the world. Have courage. Be bold. Realise that the world is a mere illusion.

The Goddess became her teacher and taught her the Vedas, Quran , Bible, Torah, Healing, Paintings, Writting , Science, History to many more. The path demands a formal requirements on the lifestyle or spiritual discipline, method to be pursued – in her case it was not a choice and preferene. This has led to diversity and significant differences in the lifestyle and goal adopted. A simple life, typically detached, drifting from place to place, with no material or emotional attachments. She became a vegetarian and took to a life of complete celibacy.

According to Begum she has crossed the traditions, liberation which consists of union with the Divine and release from rebirth ; liberation of the highest annihilation or the Fana baqabilla or Nirvikalpa Samadhi which is a deep awareness in this life and the awareness of the Supreme Reality and Self-realization in this life. Ultimately ending all ties of any kind and discarding the concept of God itself is the basis of the teachings. It is a means to the soul and meaning, but not ego nor personalities. This path does not abandon the society, it abandons the God of this Universe along with the ritual morals of the social world and one’s attachment to all its other manifestations like Religion, Scriptures and the ways of worship. The end is a liberated, content, free and blissful existence. In the midst of this inner conflict and vigorous exercise of learning she has healed and been a spiritual guide for more than 500 individuals all around the world.

Begum turned towards Ajmer, reputedly after a vision in which Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty blessed her to do so in 2009. However she had to leave Ajmer due to unfavourable conditions. Once more in 2010 she was directed to go to Katra in Jammu. After her visit to Vaishnodevi, she was once more physically guided by the Mother Goddess to go back to Ajmer and she reached Ajmer along with her mother , and settled down. In Ajmer, as per her vision she laid the foundation for the Divine Retreat in 2010 and international sufi festival in 2011. Begum promoted interfaith harmony through her various programs to build a culture of peace.

From a former actress who has acted in 7 films in South India, Model, Fashion Designer, Entrepreneur gave up everything and dedicated her life towards mysticism. According to Begum all her activities were part of her mystical journey. She has attended many seminars , conferences and been bestowed many awards and honours. She was honoured with life membership by World Development & Research Foundation, Indian Film & Telivision Research centre, Indian Film & Television Club. She was honoured with the Maharani Laxmi Bai Award for her contribution towards spirituality, Honoured by CDR & All Officers 340 (1) MECH BDE by Brigadier B.K Singh , Indian Army Nasirabad Cantonment for her initiatives towards nation building and awarded by Beary Sahithya Sammelana. She is actively involved in conducting Exhibitions, Workshops and the annual International Sufi Festival in Ajmer and Noida

According to Begum peace can be achieved with our connection to the spirit. In her words understanding what lies beyond Fana, Annihilation or Nirvikalpa Samadhi will bring us a better understanding of the concept where all illusions dissolve and the truth will bring about the practice of conflict resolution, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Justice, freedom, and dignity will lead to trust, community, and co-existence.
